195 Second Ave., Niwot, CO
The NCA thanks Pascale Fried for her presentation of Boulder County Parks and Open Space restoration work. Those in attendance were given a history of just some of the projects being worked on.

Niwot Clean Up Day
Sponsored by the NCA
Saturday May 20
Niwot High School
The snow storm that preceded this year’s Niwot Clean Up Day not only made organizers a little nervous, but also downed many tree limbs that ended up in our roll away dumpsters. At Niwot High School the sun was shining and the temperatures remained cool which made for perfect conditions for our community to come out and get rid of debris and yard waste.
In total 14 roll away dumpsters were filled, evenly split between trash and yard waste. With help from the NHS boys baseball team and Boy Scouts from local Troop 161 hundreds of carloads were unloaded, transferred to dumpsters, and stomped flat to make room for the next load. A special thank you to Tom Sesnic (NCA Area #4 representative) for spearheading this year’s event and making it so successful.

Niwot Open Space Tour
Saturday June 24
Sue Hirschfeld, a retired geologist and Boulder County Volunteer Naturalist, conducted an informative guided tour of the Foxhill Sandstone formation that is exposed on the Hillside Estates Open Space in Niwot. This exposure of the Fox Hills sandstone, on which Sue has been conducting research, is a very special area geologically and botanically, containing both fossils from when this area was a shallow sea and, presently, several rare or endangered species. Some of the highlights include shark’s teeth, ophiomorphas, miner bees, and rare lichens.
Fourth of July Celebration
Tuesday July 4
Downtown Niwot
What a beautiful day it was to celebrate our great nation’s birthday. Grand Marshal Riki Frea led the way along the parade route as hundreds of people cheered and hundreds more followed.
A huge thanks to those that helped make the day a success:
- NCA organizing committee
- Boy Scout Troop 161
- Niwot Cookie Mom’s
- Devine Savior Lutheran Church (parking)
- Robbie Vinson (Pedicab service)
- Boulder County Sheriff Color Guard unit
- Boulder County Sheriffs volunteer deputies
- Gorsuch Family
- Parade participants
- And countless individuals that volunteered their time and energy!!!
National Night Out
Tuesday August 01
The NCA coordinated with the Boulder County Sheriff’s office to hold the National Night Out event in old town Niwot. People got a close look at county equipment and personnel.
Area #2 Dessert Social
Sunday August 13
Area #2 representative Craig Rahenkamp served yummy desserts to members of his area. It was a great opportunity for neighbors to get together.
Niwot High School Homecoming Parade
Friday October 6
The NCA road crew worked with Niwot High School staff and students to facilitate this years Homecoming Parade through downtown Niwot. The high winds made things challenging but the event was yet another success of Niwot working with the Boulder County Sheriff’s office.
Niwot’s Great Pumpkin Party
Saturday October 28
Oldtown Niwot
The NCA supported the Great Pumpkin Party by coordinating road closure in Oldtown Niwot so that kids could trick or trick businesses safely. The parade of costumes was amazing. The NCA table on the corner of Franklin and 2nd was a buzz of activity with candy and treats being passed out to kids and adults.
