Why – you ask?
Preserving these items provides a great teaching opportunity. Farmers who used or use this equipment love to come in and share stories of their upbringing. Parents can show their children equipment that is no longer made and explain what it was used for. All the horse drawn equipment on display around the yard is from the local homesteads around the Niwot area.
Niwot was primarily made up of farms, farming was the way of life, we believe that preserving and honoring this way of life is important. We appreciate that you took the time today to honor Niwot’s heritage.
Today, we have 21 full size tractors, 12 Gibson tractors, 20 hit and miss engines, 14 small engines, various horse drawn equipment. New this year several tractors listed below and a rock crusher. The tractors are on display throughout the spring/summer in our front yard. At the beginning of September, they are moved out back and housed in our tractor sheds.
Boulder Colorado natives – Jerry & Marsha bought this property in 1989 (a vacant lot). They built the custom log home you see today. Boulder County required the lot be mowed – this resulted in the first tractor purchase – a 1946 John Deere B. Our second addition was a 1936 F-20 that Jerry bought during the auction of his Grandparents homestead in Ashland, NE. Marsha’s Dad added the 1927 Fordson F, a tractor he had on his homestead of Nauvoo, IL. More tractors were added over the years.
