Public comments on MJ in Niwot due June 17, 2015

Marijuana in Niwot:
Now is your second chance to be heard

The results of the NCA marijuana survey have been hand delivered to Boulder County Land Use department staff and are now part of the public record.  This was your first chance to be heard by the county.

Now is your second chance to be heard on how you feel about this issue.  The Land Usedepartment is accepting input from the public now until June 17, 2015.  If there are no issues with the application at that point, the Land Use department will assemble their recommendation to forward to the Planning Commission. See below how to submit your opinions on this issue.

Your third chance to be heard will be at the Planning Commission public hearing.  If the Land Use department completes their work in June then the hearing will be on Wednesday July 15, 2015. Check our Marijuana Application Status page for updates as this hearing date will not be finalized until after the application review is complete and the Land Use department submits their recommendation.

If the application is approved by the Planning Commission in July, then your last chance to be heard will be approximately 4 weeks later, mid August, when the Boulder County Commissioners hold a final public hearing.  Make sure that you voice your opinion!

How to send your comments to the Boulder County Land Use department
If you live within 1,500 feet of the proposed MJ site you should have already received a postcard from the Land Use department.  Those living further away can request to be notified of all announcements by sending email, see below.
All emails should be sent to:   [email protected]
And must reference docket:

While a passionate message does have some bearing, those comments directly related to Land Use issues can be more effective. Issues include, but are not limited to:
  • Energy usage
  • Water & Sewer
  • Traffic & Parking
  • Security & Crime
  • Neighborhood character
  • Air, water, & noise pollution

Messages that are professional, courteous, and succinct will be worth more to your cause over slanderous and disrespectful comments.
