Left Hand Grange Park
Volunteer Project

Saturday April 28, 2018 9am – 10:30am

Over 20 people, many of whom are NCA members, met at Left Hand Grange Park to volunteer their time to beautify the area.  Shrubs and perennials were planted around the shelter and in the islands in the parking area.  Along the creek erosion mitigation was removed now that natural vegetation has taken hold.

Scheduled to last 3 hours, the entire project was completed in just over 90 minutes because of all the helping hands.

Craig Rahenkamp organized things for the NCA to get the word out to members and was one of the volunteers.

Thanks to all that helped, Boulder County Parks and Open Space for organizing and supplying the materials, and Craig for getting the word out.

Visit the Left hand Grange Park and see the improvements!

NCA Clean Up Day

Niwot High School

Thank you to all who participated in another successful Niwot Clean Up Day. It’s one of our favorite community services to our wonderful NCA members! A little rain didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits and the event was a hit.

Special thanks to Tom Sesnic, Vice President of the NCA, for his superb planning and organization of this event!

Niwot 4th of July Celebration

July 4, 2018
Downtown Niwot

This year was another beautiful day for Niwot’s annual Fourth of July parade. Grand Marshal Dick Piland sat proudly perched in Jim Jones’ beautiful 1965 Corvette Stingray convertible. Dick rode in the parade clad in colonial dress reminiscent of our fore fathers. It was a perfect day to celebrate our great nation’s birthday.

This parade gets bigger and better every year thanks to the excellent planning and hard work of:

  • NCA organizing committee
  • NCA Fourth of July Committee and road crew
  • Boy Scout Troop 161
  • Niwot Cookie Mom’s
  • Niwot High School Key Club
  • Niwot Nifties 4-H
  • Robbie Vinson (Pedicab service)
  • Boulder County Sheriff Color Guard Unit
  • Boulder County Sheriffs volunteer deputies
  • Parade participants
  • Mountain View Fire Department
  • And countless individuals that volunteered their time and energy

National Night Out

August 7, 2018  6pm – 9pm
Murray Street, Old Town Niwot

For the second year in a row, the NCA coordinated with the Boulder County Sheriff’s office to hold the National Night Out event in old town Niwot.  Members of the Boulder Sheriff’s Department and the Mountain View Fire Rescue gave those who attended a firsthand look at the services these unsung heroes provide to our community. Among the amazing demonstrations were presentations by the canine unit of the Boulder County Sheriff’s office, the Boulder County Swat Team, and the SARCOM drone unit.

A special thanks Mike Kaessner of the Mountain View Fire Rescue for putting this event  together and to the Niwot Market for their contribution of food, the Rotary and Target for providing free bottled water and ice cream.  Sheriff Joe Pelle was on hand to meet and greet the folks who came out for this event.
If you didn’t attend National Night Out, you also missed the musical stylings of our own Niwot Free Grange Marching Band!
As always, we are grateful for the NCA road crew for road closures and clean up after this event. We hope to see you all at next year’s National Night Out!
